The house museums of Tryon Palace Historic Sites & Gardens are open 360 days each year, so the “indoor” experience is always available.

The gardens change seasonally, with lovely displays year-round and particularly spectacular shows in the spring and fall. If gardening is your passion, you might want to visit in the spring, with its abundance of tulips, and the fall, which is rich in chrysanthemums. But there is also much to enjoy and to learn from in our summer and winter garden displays.

The Christmas season is lavishly celebrated at Tryon Palace Historic Sites & Gardens, and it is one of our most popular seasons. Our house museums are decorated inside and out. Candlelight tours are truly magical. And this is the only time of the year to see our Jonkonnu Celebration, a North Carolina African American Christmas tradition dating back to the 18th century.
